Intra-district students living within Wooster City Schools boundaries

Elementary resident students (elementary students who live within the boundaries of the Wooster City School District) can apply for intra-district open enrollment. This allows a student who lives within the residence boundaries of a particular school building (i.e. Parkview, Cornerstone, Melrose, or Kean) to apply for permission to attend a different elementary building within the district. Some families choose to apply for this enrollment status when there are child care issues before and after school. The district does not provide transportation for those students approved under intra-district open enrollment.  These applications are accepted between May 1 and June 30.

Inter-district students living outside Wooster City Schools boundaries

Wooster City Schools offers open enrollment statewide, limited to maximum enrollment thresholds, in grades K-12. Applications are accepted between May 1 and June 30 for the following school year. The exceptions are resident students who move away during any given school year. They may apply for open enrollment for the remainder of that school year.  Students who have been previously admitted via inter-district open enrollment shall be given preference over new applicants, prioritized by number of years of attendance. Other open enrollment applicants will be prioritized by the date their application was received.  No applications will be accepted prior to May 1.

All open enrollment applications will be acted upon and parents notified by July 15. By August 1, the parent must notify Wooster City Schools of their acceptance or rejection of open enrollment. Failure to respond will forfeit their application for that year. The administration will determine building assignments. There is no guarantee that the building assignment will prevail in subsequent years. All approved transfers are in effect for one school year. Non-resident students must re-apply each year.

Please understand that there will be no transportation for students who are on open enrollment.

Parents will be required to transport all students on open enrollment.
