The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for the general operation of the individual schools and the district. This includes, but is not limited to, various programs, policy and procedure, special projects, business services, curriculum and technology. The Assistant Superintendent oversees the hiring process for all certified and non-certified staff in collaboration with principals, supervisors, managers, directors and the Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent also aides in the development and distribution of building and department budgets and manages expenditures as requested.
The Assistant Superintendent helps with the creation of instructional systems designed for high student achievement, placing a primary focus on improving instruction and enhancing student learning.
Brian Madigan joined the Wooster City School District in August 2021, as Assistant Superintendent. His skill set includes continuous improvement, data and assessment, staff professional development, instructional leadership, student support, curriculum implementation, school safety, mission, vision and goal setting, written communications, and parent and community engagement.
The Curriculum Coordinator assists with determining the curriculum needs of the district, oversees meetings with department heads and teachers, and connects with vendors to determine the best possible resources. In collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent, the Curriculum Coordinator establishes a plan for curriculum adoption and proposal to the Board of Education. Sara Crooks was named the Wooster City School District Curriculum Coordinator in 2021.
