My child needs a work permit...

To obtain a minor work permit, students/minors should use application forms, Part I and Part 2, to gather the necessary information and approvals from their potential employer, physician and from their parents or legal guardian. Once these forms are filled out completely and signed the student needs to accompany these forms to the Wooster High School Main Office, 515 Oldman Road, Wooster.

Wooster Ranked As A U.S.News "Best" High School

Wooster High School has earned the prestigious U.S. News & World Report Best High School award for ranking in the top 10% of nearly 18,000 schools nationwide and nearly 700 in Ohio. Within its Ohio Department of Education Similar District Cohort, Wooster ranks #1 overall.

When identifying similar schools for district cohorts, the state factors in certain criteria including student enrollment, population density, economic levels and racial diversity. The #1 ranking among its cohorts demonstrates Wooster High School’s excellent standing among schools throughout the state who share the same demographic indicators.

“This is quite an honor and a wonderful example of the recognition our schools annually earn,” said Wooster Superintendent Dr. Michael Tefs.”

U.S. News releases their famed Best High School rankings every year, with schools vying for the recognition as a way of grading their own performance. The rankings are produced in conjunction with RTI International, a global research firm, which means U.S. News does not collect information directly from schools. Instead, the publication receives data from the College Board and International Baccalaureate, state assessment data, and the U.S. Department of Education Common Core of Data.

Schools are ranked on factors such as college readiness, college curriculum breadth, math and reading proficiency and graduation rate. Wooster High School’s 96% student graduation rates the school above the state average.

We’re proud of our students, teachers and staff who have all worked so hard to make this recognition possible, Wooster High School Principal Tyler Keener. “We are continually impressed by the perseverance and drive our students and teachers continually display. Our community should be proud of this national recognition as it is a testament to our students’  commitment to education.”
