The Wooster City School District Board of Education is proud to announce their newest member, Cody Austin. Austin interviewed on Aug. 29 for the open spot and was sworn in on Sept. 19. He is replacing Dr. Mike Knapic, who resigned on Aug. 24.
“Mr. Austin is going to be a terrific addition to the Board of Education,” Wooster Superintendent Gabe Tudor said. “He is a champion for providing high-quality education for all students and shares our passion for fiscal responsibility.”
Austin, a financial advisor, started Austin Wealth Solutions in March 2018, providing financial coaching and advising services. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Akron and his MBA from U of A, as well, specializing in leadership & organizational change, in 2015. He has also worked as a general manager with the Troy Miller Agency in Shreve and as an independent consultant for Hartzler Family Dairy in Wooster.
“I’m honored to answer the call to be on the Wooster Board of Education,” Austin said. “I’m ready to put my skills to work, and I look forward to laying the groundwork to create a bright future for the next generation.”
The board’s primary responsibility is to establish programs and procedures that will facilitate maximum learning for every student. The board must accomplish this while also being responsible for the wise management of resources available to the district. The board must fulfill these responsibilities by functioning primarily as a legislative body to formulate and adopt policy, by selecting an executive officer to implement policy and evaluating the results; further, it must carry out its functions openly while seeking the involvement and contributions of the public, students and staff in its decision-making process.
