The Wooster City Schools Spelling Bee was held on December 9, 2022, at Wooster High School with thirteen participating students ranging from sixth to eighth grades. Battling for the win were Nick Kakanuru and Noah Greene. The overall winner was Nick Kakanuru, eighth grader at Wooster High School, with ‘misericords’, a word with dual spelling possibilities: ‘misericords’ or ‘misericordes’. The runner up was Noah Greene, a sixth grader at Edgewood Middle School, who correctly spelled the word ‘pell-mell’. Third place was Edgewood’s Elijah (Eli) Dean who correctly spelled, ‘reenactment’. Tied for fourth place were Edgewood students Joel French and Delaney Hoffman. Kakanuru and Greene will advance to the Wayne County Spelling Bee to be held on January 24, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. at Orrville High School. Congratulations to all participants in this year’s Spelling Bee.
