Kean Leader In Me

The Leader in Me is taught in grades Pre K- 6. Teaching students a process that promotes the concept that all students are leaders of their own lives. They are being taught the seven habits: Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood, Synergize and Sharpen the Saw.

Here is a list of Leader in Me events that take place at Kean:

• First 8 Days
• Leadership Rallies KEAN LEADERSHIP ROLE APPLICATION
• Tally System (Blue Tally = (Individual) I was living the 7 Habits; Gold Tally = (Whole class) Our class was following the 7 Habits; Orange Tally = (Individual) I was not following classroom and/or building expectations and I was not living the 7 Habits; Red Tally = (Individual) I was not following the 7 Habits and was given a discipline referral to follow-up with the school principal.) KEAN TALLY SYSTEM
• Student Lighthouse - Our Student Lighthouse Team is comprised of ten KDGN-4th grade students.  These students applied and then went through an interview process to be selected for this year-long leadership role.  Our Student Lighthouse Team works cohesively with our Adult Lighthouse Team to help guide decision-making within our Leader in Me initiative, plan and implement school-wide programs and fundraisers, and lead our various school and district-wide activities.
